With this system, you have several configuration options. Your antenna choices matter. These are the different settings and applications to consider when choosing your kit.
Use cases for choosing an indoor antenna
Dome antennas work best mounted to the ceiling of the space where you need signal. The dome sends signal downward omnidirectionally. This works best in large areas; preferably in the middle of the ceiling. If you are installing this in a large home, cabin, or office, you’ll want to install it in a family room or meeting/conference room where there would be fewer structures blocking your signal.
Panel antenna installations provide a lot of flexibility with the indoor antenna configuration. You can mount a panel to a wall, in a hallway, or you also mount it to your ceiling using the mounting bracket that is included with the kit. Regardless of your antenna choice, you should mount it in a location with the fewest amount of structural obstacles like walls, metal beams, thick glass, or cement.
Choosing the Ultra-thin indoor antenna has a few advantages beyond the improved aesthetic. Your antenna gain for the Ultra-thin can reach up to +6 dBi where the standard dome gets +3 dBi. In non-RF-speak, a +3 dB gain is similar to doubling the signal strength in your space, a huge deal. The Ultra-thin and our wide band panel antennas can boost 5G bands, but the standard dome will not.
Bonus tip: If you need a four-antenna system that requires a multiple types of indoor antennas, let us know and we will make sure to come up with a solution that is based on the configuration that works best for you. For example if you need two panels and two domes, we will make accommodations for that.
Use cases for choosing an outdoor antenna
Yagi antennas are directional so your antenna positioning matters when you’re mounting it to the outside of your space. Our yagi antenna will perform well in rural and suburban locations where your home or office may be a few miles from the nearest cell tower - off the beaten path. These antennas can still be effective even if your tower is several miles away.
Omni antennas are well omnidirectional so your antenna positioning matters slightly less when you’re mounting it to the outside of your space. Our omni antenna will perform well in urban and some suburban locations where your nearest cell tower is close by. The omni antenna can receive and boost the signal from multiple towers, but it is important to ensure that you still mount the omni where your signal is strongest.
We have tested these products in a wide variety of conditions, and the Fusion5X 2.0 will boost signal from towers that are up to 10 miles away, but we recognize that not all conditions are created equal, so these results may vary.
